Wildwood is shaped around a simple idea: time in nature, held with care. A place designed for quiet mornings, open space, and a rhythm that follows the landscape rather than the clock.
The retreat is intentionally small, intentionally calm, and guided by simplicity, clarity, and long‑term stewardship.
Wildwood is located in Durău, a quiet mountain area in Neamț County, at the base of the Ceahlău Massif. The region is known for its forests, clear air, and stillness. A landscape that naturally supports rest.
The retreat is planned with around 25 rooms, arranged across two buildings. A size that keeps the atmosphere personal, quiet, and closely connected to the surrounding nature.
The land around the retreat allows for thoughtful expansion over time, including the potential for a small number of nature‑led cabins. Any future development will follow the same calm, minimalist approach as the retreat itself.
Durău sits at around 800 metres altitude, surrounded by forests, quiet valleys, and open mountain views. The surrounding woods hold rich Carpathian wildlife. Stag, brown bear, wild boar, and the protected black goat, with the bison sanctuary in the Ceahlău Mountains adding to the region’s natural significance.
The area offers year‑round access to the outdoors. Woodland paths and mountain trails lead towards the Ceahlău peaks, including Ocolașu Mare and Toaca, as well as the Duruitoarea Waterfall. In winter, the small local ski area provides a slower, quieter way to experience the landscape.
Durău also carries a calm cultural presence. The small church painted by Nicolae Tonitza, the local monastery, and the historic monasteries across Neamț and northern Moldavia, including Secu, Sihăstrie, Neamț, Văratec, Agapia, Sucevița, Moldovița, Putna, Dragomirna, and Voroneț, add depth and stillness to the region. Natural landmarks such as Bicaz Gorges, Roșu Lake, Borsec, and Vatra Dornei sit within reach, blending nature and heritage in a quiet, understated way.
Durău is a year‑round mountain setting, shaped by forests, wildlife, and soft mountain light. A landscape that naturally supports rest.
Durău is reached by a scenic drive through rural villages and forested hills. The nearest major airport is Iași, with connections across Europe.

Wildwood is being developed with care and intention. Once the estate is secured, the retreat will enter a two‑phase process — purchase, followed by renovation. From that point, the opening is expected within 14–20 months, depending on the scope of work and seasonal conditions. This timeline allows the retreat to be completed with the quality and calm attention it deserves.
